I open my eyes, waking up scared, the heart beats fast, at the same time listen to the whole body the deafening noise of a tremor ....¡¡¡ !!!... one among many who have lived, I sleep this summer in Chile, skinny, skinny kid who almost fell into the sea hanging from the Andes and a huge sea flanking us. From time to time about every ten years is upon us, among many others, one of those big men, mighty, of which leave no "monkey head" as they say in these parts. EARTHQUAKES
If one searches in our history will be repeated with an accuracy almost clockwork, they usually leave a trail of destroyed homes dozens dead and more tremendous tens of thousands of deceased with tears and no processions and funerals, as they have gone straight to mass graves.
My own mother survived the famous Chillán earthquake of 1939, a cataclysm that wiped out the city, being then under the house of his parents as a baby a few months pious rescued by some neighbors went to the care of a good whores ladies that the Lord is sure to have within it amusing the leisure of angels, cherubim and seraphim, in the compassionate ladies then nursed the baby for a few days returned to their parents safe and sound.
My grandmother and my grandfather fought somewhat better at first, then came crawling through the means of the rubble, wounded and battered, but alive, my aunts died instead crushed by huge beams of those houses with walls as high as kite flying (kites) . Advancing
time, while still in the womb of my mother, I was fortunate to live the Concepción earthquake of 1960, including sea outlet, which had to penquista perched in the hills for weeks as she lay on the full length floor with me in the belly thump after the escape in the first pangs ... not yet reached the world and earthquakes almost shivering me back to heaven ...
WHAT WAS?
BROOOOOOOOOMMMM!! heard around me, all dark except the full moon or so, the glow that illuminates with its cold the noise that at this point everything moves and shakes ... "This has been great!" I say and go swiftly into the courtyard of the hut I live on a hill by the sea ... downhill to the bottom and you can see the silver sea and the house of my elderly parents on a land shudders oscillating roars and throbs like a wave almost more ... Fall on my knees ... I joined, I run a few steps to get to your back door ... pulls out my sister with my mother who realizes just what happens, admission to the house find my parents claim under the bathroom door, neighbor to his room, dragged him, he can hardly move, at 82 years, the aches and radiation therapies have weakened legs: "¡¡¡¡ Hurry up man for heaven's sake, what we like the house on top !!!!" - sleepy, it makes me a child I refused to walk crafty ... Land thunder and everything vibrates, the beams of the house of nearly 100 years tremble, the walls of adobe (mud and straw) common in old buildings of colonial Chile where we are, you shiver in the pudding that roars and apparently in imitation of a Boeing 747 take off like a taxi infernal cackling of hens, mad dogs howl, clay tiles and ceiling dust falling, people screaming ... Finally we went to fresh air ... On the horizon, just above looks impressive, powerful and silent lunar disk image, giant, red-tinged ...
